To be like Tove Jansson / Być jak Tove Jansson

Za stworzeniem tego mojego gniazda (kapsuły, strony, zwał jak zwał) od początku stała potrzeba poprawy świadomości tego co tworzę, dlaczego i jak tworzę oraz świadomego wpływania na to bym szedł w kierunkach, które najbardziej mi odpowiadają. Mam wielką łatwość całkowitego zagubiania się w bezwładzie, zapominania własnych celów i wytracania pędu grzęznąc w jakiś kompletnie niechcianych i nieporządanych kierunkach, marnując bez sensu energię, czas i zdrowie.
Jednoznaczna receptura dla mojej twórczości jest ciągle dla mnie niejasna. Mam jednak jakieś poczucie kierunku i wiem że powinienem żwawiej iść w tę właśnie stronę. Ruszyłem już zresztą w tym roku, jednak zgubiłem drogę we mgle.
Oto orientuję więc mapę z kompasem na nowo i ruszam dalej, gdy już skończę pracę nad kalendarzami.
Do napisania tego wpisu zainspirowała mnie twórczość Tove Jansson. Była ona w moim wyobrażeniu spełnioną artystką, znającą swój fach, która i doszła do stabilnego utrzymania się z własnej twórczości, co jest niezwykle trudne i nie zaprzestała nigdy eksplorowania nowych terytoriów w dziedzinie sztuki wizualnej jak i pisarskiej.
Kojarzycie na pewno jej czarno-białe ilustracje do Muminków. Ale czy widzieliście też te malowane, kolorowe? Czy widzieliście jej inne obrazy, autoportrety i martwe natury? I czy czytaliście jej inne książki? Ostatnio odkryłem, że Tove stworzyła też ilustracje do Hobbita czy Alicji w Krainie Czarów. Ja też chcę, ja też! I oto już tworzę swoje, do kalendarza. Trzymajcie kciuki, żeby coś z nich wyszło! :)
Mój pomysł na dalszą drogę zawiera dwa elementy:
1. Poważne studia nad stylem ulubionych, inspirujących artystów.
2. Stworzenie serii ilustracji, które niezależnie jak wyjdą, to będę wiedział że tworząc je dałem z siebie wszystko. Dawno już nie stworzyłem nowej w pełni wykończonej ilustracji.
Czy chcę to zrobić po kolei, czy też jednocześnie? Jeszcze nie wiem.
Zanim do tego dojdzie, wizja może się zresztą jeszcze zmienić.
Zapisuję ją jednak dla samego siebie z przyszłości jako przypominajkę.

Behind the creation of my nest (capsule, page, call it as you like), from the very beginning, there was a need to improve the awareness of what I create, why and how I create, and to consciously influence it so I would go in the directions that best suit me. I have great ease in completely losing myself in inertia, forgetting my own goals and losing momentum, getting bogged down in some completely unwanted and undesirable directions, wasting my energy, time and health without any sense.
An unequivocal recipe for my work is still unclear to me. However, I have some sense of direction and I know that I should walk in this direction more quickly. I have already started this year, but lost my way in the fog.
So here I re-orient the map with the compass and move on when I'm finished working on the calendars.
I was inspired to write this post by the work of Tove Jansson. In my mind, she was a fulfilled artist who knew her profession, who achieved a stable income from her own work, which is extremely difficult and has never stopped exploring new territories in the field of visual art and writing. You know her black and white illustrations for Moomin for sure. But have you also seen the painted, colorful ones? Have you seen her other paintings, self-portraits and still lifes? And have you read her other books? Recently I discovered that Tove also made illustrations for The Hobbit and Alice in Wonderland. I want too! And so I do. Here I am creating my own ones for the calendar. Keep your fingers crossed for something to come out of it! :)
My idea for the way forward includes two elements:
1. Serious study of the style of your favorite, inspiring artists.
2. Creating a series of illustrations that, regardless of how they come out, I will know that I gave my best creating them. It's been a long time since I created a new, fully finished illustration.
Do I want to do it sequentially or simultaneously? I do not know yet.
Before that happens, the vision may still change.
However, I save it for my future self as a reminder.
