/ã/

Examples:

- diamant, kangourou, orange
       ^^ ^^ ^^
  1. Variations in spelling

  2. an and am

n could become m in places where `/ã/` sound comes in.

ie, instead of an the spelling would be am.

    Note
'B' and 'P' can never come after an 'N' in French.
    - ambulance (ambyulons): ambulance
      ^^+

    - jambon: ham
       ^^+

    - lampe: lamp
       ^^+

So, an and am could produce /ã/ sound.

  3. en and em

/ã/ can also be produced by en and em.

    Examples with 'en':

    - dent: tooth
       ^^+

    - enveloppe: envelope
      ^^+

    - serpent: serpent
          ^^+

    Examples with 'em':

    - trembler (tromplé): to shiver
        ^^+

    - temple (tompl[e]): temple
       ^^+

    Note
pronunciation-wise, both 'en' and 'em' are identical.
    Note
letter combinations 'an', 'am', 'en', 'em' have the same /ã/ sound.

If b or p comes immediately after the ã sound, n just becomes m in the spelling.
